The Industry Support Fund, founded by the Writer's Guild Foundation to provide financial relief to non-WGA industry members impacted by the strike, has raised over a quarter million dollars, and has already given away more than half of what they've raised. The fund anticipates continuing to donate $40,000 - $45,000 a month over the next several months as industry members find their feet financially.
The Writer's Guild Foundation is working closely with the Actor's Fund to help distribute the money. Separately, The Actor's Fund has spent half a million on strike-related relief since the beginning of the strike. A non-profit that offers an array of services to all performing arts professionals, The Actor's Fund is not just for actors. For more information check out their website at www.actorsfund.org.

We had a great response from members of the community who want to be a part of the United Hollywood / Strike Swag T-shirt photo shoot tomorrow. The response was so great that the schedule is full. As a result, we will not be able to shoot anyone without a confirmed time. But we will announce a new shoot date later this week.

The United Hollywood / Strike Swag Photo Shoot
On Monday, February 11 from 2-6pm, United Hollywood and Strike Swag invite all members of the United Hollywood community to be photographed for a PR campaign to promote the new United Hollywood site.
The concept of the campaign is to show writers, actors, directors, crew, staff and fans standing united to meet the challenges of the digital present. That's right, the challenges of now.
Volunteers will be photographed wearing a United Hollywood t-shirt or hat, standing against a black backdrop and matched with one or two people from a different part of the community. Writers with fans. Actors with crew. Fans with directors. Directors with crew. Staff and leadership from various unions. Subject to scheduling, ALL ARE WELCOME!
Each participant will get to keep the shirts and hats they wear and will, upon request, be emailed a high resolution version of the photographs in which they appear.
The shoot will take place in the Multi-Purpose Room of the WGA headquarters at Third and Fairfax in Los Angeles:

As this is the 40th anniversary of the King Day Parade, the Writers Guild of America is proud and honored to be invited to be a part of this historic event which celebrates not only the civil rights movement but also the bond between workers and is a statement about the need for solidarity on all levels of society.
WHEN: Monday January 21.
WHERE: Atlanta, GA -- march participants need to meet with WGA co-captains Phil Nutman & Jason Dolan at the corner of Peachtree Street and Baker Street no later than 12:30 PM (please try to arrive around 12:15 PM-ish)
-- The march officially kicks off at 1PM. Due to the large number of groups participating in this year's event, arriving on time is crucial.
HOW: there is no free parking in midtown/downtown Atlanta. March participants are advised to take MARTA to Peachtree Center station and walk north a block to the rendezvous point.

Pencils2MediaMoguls: NYC Delivery Today (1/16)

For the last couple of months, television fans have been buying pencils to send to the media moguls – the heads of six major companies that dominate the AMPTP – to demonstrate their support for the writers of their favorite TV series. On December 11, the first 500,000 pencils were delivered in Los Angeles. On Wednesday, another 200,000 will be delivered in New York.
The United Federation of Teachers (UFT), which represents most of the non-supervisory educators who work in the New York City public schools, has agreed to accept any pencils that the media moguls reject, and pass them on to students. Writers, fans, and representatives of the UFT will speak at a press conference.
Following the press conference, small groups of writers and fans will deliver pencils to four media moguls via taxicab. The moguls include: Leslie Moonves, CBS Corporation; Rupert Murdoch, News Corporation (Fox); Jeffrey Bewkes, Time Warner; and Sumner Redstone, Viacom.
Also following the press conference, writers and supporters of the WGA will present pencils to UFT teachers coming in for their Delegate Assembly.

Bang Comedy Theater Fundraiser
On January 24th, Bang Comedy Theater presents a special, all-WGA cast of the written essay show PINATA. Half the door with go to the Industry Support Fund.
Readers will include Brent Forrester (The Office), Christy Stratton Mann (King of the Hill), Shawn Schepps (Weeds), Peter Murrieta (Wizards of Waverly Place), Laura House (George Lopez) and a special essay from Larry Gelbart (No need for parentheses). The show always ends with free candy.

Tickets have already sold out for this show benefitting the Industry Support Fund. Ars Nova and the writers and staff of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will present a night of stand-up, sketch and film to benefit staffers affected by the WGA strike. Performers include The Daily Show's Rory Albanese, Hallie Haglund, JR Havlan, Elliott Kalan, Rob Kutner, Adam Lowitt, Sam Means and John Oliver.

The Actors Fund helps anyone who works in the entertainment industry. Its staff are knowledgeable about the many assistance programs available. They also offer mental health counseling and career counseling to name but two other programs.

Drew Carey is Just Right as Host of the Armando Show
WGA and SAG member Drew Carey and the cast of The Armando Show played to a packed house last night at the iO West theater.
The Armando Show is one of iO West's longest-running shows featuring a guest monologist every week backed by a regular troupe of improvisers (including SNL's Tim Meadows, and MADtv's Stephnie Weir). This week's improvisers included WGA members John Reynolds (Late Late Show), Joe O'Brien (Late Late Show), Adrien Wenner (My Boys), Ed Lee (The Drew Carey Show), Kate Purdy (Cold Case), and Wendy Molyneux (The Megan Mullally Show) in addition to the regular Armando cast.
Over the month of January and until February 4, The Armando Show will raise money through ticket proceeds for the Writer's Guild Foundation Industry Support Fund.
Next up, Ron Livingston hosts on January 14th, Bob Odenkirk on January 28th, leading up to a star-studded finale on February 4th featuring cast members from The Daily Show, The Office, SNL, and MADtv.
