Paula Schneider, mother of WGA member Lew Schneider (Everybody Loves Raymond, The New Adventures of Old Christine) joined her son on the Fox picket line for three days last week while she was visiting LA from Boston. Paula, a retired professor of social work, said, "I think there's a great social distance between writers and the viewing public. It's hard for the viewing public to be compassionate and imagine that the writers are workers for major corporations in the same way that most Americans are, and that this struggle, although it takes place in Hollywood, is the same struggle that all workers face. I'm excited by the thought that I was participating in something I deeply believe in. The rich shouldn't get richer without paying the workers their fair share."
