Strike Wars Video Picked Up By "Wired"

"Wired" Blog Network has picked up one of our favorite entries to the FairDeal4Writers Contest -- Strike Wars.

It was created by supporter Rubberpoultry from Ohio, with some pretty impressive effects work and a truly epic storytelling sense.

Enjoy the satire. We all need to be able to laugh once in a while.

Wow, rubberpoultry my man, how'd you manage to pull off some of those effects?

This is intimidating, but I'll probably still submit my own entry to this contest. Hmmm...

Well done Rubber Poultry. The Jericho fans support the writers. Rubber Poultry is one of us. We love Jericho and know if it wasn't for the writers it wouldn't be worth watching.

Please Captain Obvious, submit your entry! I wish everyone out there would do something for the writers. I think everyone has a shot at winning no matter what kind of effects are used in their piece.

My piece was a labor of love. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I'm also a big fan of writers. I thought the fight for a fair deal and the rebels taking on the Empire were just a great fit.

Thanks to my friends in the Jericho world for the support. If it weren't for Jericho, I probably never would have gotten involved in the strike. That's the power of good writing... it makes you feel, think, care, act, and spend hours creating videos and graphics to support what you believe in.

Without the writers, there would be no industry. There would be no AMPTP for that matter. Let's stand with them even as fans.

Another fantastic video rubberpoultry!! :)

As a fellow Jericho fan (and of many other scripted programs), I'm a huge supporter of the strike. Without scripts, there is no entertainment. I hope the writers know that when they went on strike, we, their viewers, went with them and until they get a fair deal, we support them 110%.

RP--
You're hired.
That kicked!

I'm so glad your video has been accepted in the contest despite the will not alienate th AMPTP and the news blacout and the issue of derivative/parody work.

And it's nice to see it picked up by Wired !
As I said in the chat of United Hollywood Live, it is brilliant !

I probably will, my finger-licking-good comrade. I think the one thing my piece has going for it is its seriousness. There's been so many Star Wars spoofs over the years that gunning down the AMPTP-shaped superfortress almost has a comical feel at this point.

The biggest monkey on my back isn't intimidation, it's time. I have much on my plate already. The deadline extension helped, but several massive hardware failures I've encountered over the past three weeks haven't.

Sigh. My video plans may be completely derailed, now. My video camera stopped working this morning and I'm not in a position to get another. I'll have to see if there's any useful A/V equipment rental places nearby, or a buddy I can borrow from.

Oh, man. I'm sorry to hear that.

Do what the guy from "My Date With Drew" did. Buy one, shoot your piece and take it back. :)

Hope you get it worked out.
