I'm spreading the word...Viva WGA!

I'm so sick of the lack of respect for writers in L.A. Without a story there is nothing.

Fight on!

I don't mean for this to come across as too tacky.

I'm a very talented writer and I would like to get my name out there (maybe some people from the studios are reading this).

I graduated from an Ivy League school. I will attend a prestigious law school school next year. I wrote for a foreign tv series for 2 years.

I will work for cheap. If interested, respond on this thread to direct me appropriately.

Fair is fair. I signed. I added the link to my blog. I support the WGA!

Petitions are all good and well, but I'd like to see more options suggested for viewers to help support the writers.

This is all about money, and the studios aren't going to give in until they see that they are getting hit in the pocketbook.

Why hasn't there been any talk of boycotts of Universal/GE/the Sheinhardt Wig company? If people stopped buying fridges from companies that treat writers like dirt, wouldn't they get the message faster?

What about writing to the companies that advertise during the online programming and letting them know how we feel about the situation - let them know we don't plan on buying those products until the networks create a fair deal with the writers?

Thank you for linking to the petition. In general, I think online petitions carry little weight (they are fairly easy to fudge or sabotage), but it's great that there's an outlet for consumers to show support for the WGA.

This is lame

A petition is great for venting, of course. But we need to hit the companies where it hurts-their wallets. If they think they can sustain their schedules by airing reality shows (FOX), we should give them a reason to grovel before those who are the creative content that lines their pockets with hundred-dollar bills. Then, maybe, you guys could get the respect you deserve.

I'm number 972. And I'd be all 971 before me if I had that many personalities. I'll give out this link on Office Tally, too.

I know that internet petitions don't mean a lot, but IMHO every little bit counts... which is why you're getting a couple of pizzas on me with the next delivery :) Anyone else who wants to donate or find out more ways to help, visit http://www.fans4writers.com, started by the awesome folks at Whedonesque.

Not signed.

With the substance and quality of most of what comes from this country’s entertainment industry on a daily basis, I for one hope that the writers strike remains permanent.

Have a nice day Hollywood.

Signed! As did the other memebers of our writers guild.

Interesting, Jeff, that you consider the writers to more to blame for the failure to meet your standards than the actual executives who control what goes out over the cable and into the theatre.

There is crap out there-but if that crap is making studio executives big money, then it is only just that those who help bring that revenue in get a fair share.

Writers are workers. Workers deserve fair pay.

I found out about it from a friend on LiveJournal and have added my name! I was signature 13109...I'm a prose writer, and even though we're not on the lines with you guys, we're supporting you everyway possible.

Eventually, this hits us all.

Signed! I'm sick of studio execs thinking they own and built Hollywood. Its time the creative talent takes a stand...we want Hollywood back and we want it now. Dump the suits behind their big desks that think reality TV is still "in." Lets get the revolution started!
