SEIU Stands With the Writers

Today, members of the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) joined the writers in picketing "The Riches". Many SEIU members are planning to march on Tuesday in the Union Solidarity rally. We're all on the same page.

WGA these tactics you’re employing are disgustingly selfish. You're driving the REAL middle class out of the industry, people who; don't have agents and multi-million dollar deals, have to work just as hard and as long to make it in the business and then deal with the same job uncertainty you do with much smaller pay and without residuals every month… these are the people that will suffer from your selfish strike because they can’t afford to be unemployed for 6 months like you... and it will take them years to pay off the loans and debt they have to take on to survive your strike.

Is the AMPTP paying people to hang around here and get the first post, whining all this nonsense about the WGA hurting all these other people. It's becoming such a predictable thing.

I'm so proud that the SEIU is joining in the WGA's efforts. I used to be an SEIU member (I now work in a non-union field) and I think SEIU does great work for their members. Stay strong!!

So what you're saying is that members of the WGA should bend over and take it in the ass so you don't lose your job, is that right? Am I correct in that this is a fair summation of your point?

Because that strikes me as a pretty fucking selfish attitude in and of itself.

Also, the whole "writers make millions of dollars delivered to them by vestal virgins riding on unicorns while we poor souls are living hand-to-mouth uphill, both ways, in the snow while we struggle with the dread scurvy" schtick is getting pretty old. Anonymous bitching on a blog isn't helping put food on your table either, sparky. Either get some fucking representation, go negotiate with someone who matters rather than random denizens of the interweb, or eat shit and die.

Anon troll: Get a side job like every writer and actor does when work drys up, which it tends to do here in showbiz land. Did you just move here? Residuals every month? Ha. Actors and writers don't get a weekly salary like you do and residuals are part of a deferred payment. Educate yourself, perhaps you would earn more.

Why not look up the meaning of the word "selfish" and draft a new argument. It shows that you aren't a writer, your whole story is weak, old and full of wholes. I have some notes....

Oops, holes, not wholes. Time for bed!

Then again, doubt he/she noticed.

SEIU knows how to win. And they know what it takes. You're lucky to have them on board.

SEIU is one of the most corrupt, sleaziest unions around. Any excuse for not working will serve. On the other hand, it could be fun watching writers be grateful to people they'd ordinarily shun.

Don't argue with each other! That's exactly what they want. They want you to panic and eat each other.

Incidentally, I am delighted that SEIU is joining in. I won a scholarship from them in 1967 that helped pay for college.
